Eligibility, Rights, and Obligations of Association Membership

Eligibility

Open to any student enrolled in the College of Oral and Dental Medicine, Karary University.

Obligation

  • Respect and follow the bylaws
  • Attend the General Conference
  • Follow the Association's decisions
  • Don't use Association activities for political gain or personal benefit

Rights

  • Run for executive positions per the bylaws
  • Vote at the General Conference
  • Join local/international activities
  • Act on behalf of the Association per the bylaws

Honorary Membership

  • One renewable term
  • Recommended by the Executive
  • Committee for students or alumni with significant contributions
  • Can speak at conferences, but can't vote or run for office

Suspension - 1 month

Triggered by:

  • Failing assigned duties
  • Violating the bylaws
  • Conditioning duties on personal demands

Recommended by Executive Committee/coordinators, enforced by the Board of Trustees.

Previously suspended members can't run in the next conference.

Permanent Withdrawal

Triggered by:

  • Repeated suspensions: 2+ in one term or 3+ across terms
  • Resignation
  • Missing 3 conferences unexcused, or 5 excused
  • Death/incapacity
  • A conviction involving moral turpitude
  • Expulsion from the College, or permanent transfer

Enforced by the General Assembly on the Board's recommendation.

No refund of paid dues.

Appealable once, within a month.

Alumni

  • Membership lapses 6 months after graduation results are announced
  • Unless holding an Association position, in which case it continues until the term ends
